Corsica / Sardinia Yacht Charter

Suggested Sailing Itinerary

PORTISCO/PORTISCO (14 NIGHTS)

Below is a suggested itinerary for your Corsica/Sardinia bareboat charter holiday.

 DAY 1

Board yacht at marina base late afternoon. Organise some light provisions and dine in a waterfront restaurant while you decide your itinerary for tomorrows sail.

OVERNIGHT – PORTISCO

 DAY 2

Sail to Cannigione.  The small village is charming and the hinterland fertile and green, in marked contract to the barren rocky landscape so often encountered elsewhere.  In the summer the town is full of life in an unsophisticated enjoyable way. (approx 14 miles)

OVERNIGHT – CANNIGIONE

 DAY 3

Cannigione to Santa Teresa Di Gallura.  The town was named after Queen Maria Teresa when a colony from Piedmont was established here in the 19th century.  The village is unassuming and the harbour below a peace spot except for July and August when it can be quite busty as it is the best departure port for Corsica. (approx 12 miles)

OVERNIGHT - SANTA TERESA DI GALLURA

 DAY 4

Santa Teresa Di Gallura to Bonifacio.  Bonifacio remains one of the most picturesque harbours in the world to enter.  The striated limestone cliffs create a huge natural balcony over the sea.  Explore the citadel and surrounding township.  (approx 10 miles)

OVERNIGHT – BONIFACIO

 DAY 5

Explore Bonifacio.

OVERNIGHT – BONIFACIO

 DAY 6

From Bonifacio head northwest up this scenic coast of Corsica perhaps an overnight in Roccapina.  The best anchorage is in the NE of the bay in 3-6m on sand, good holding.  However in the summer the anchorage is very popular and you will have to anchor wherever you can.  Good shelter from all but southerlies and quite magnificent wild surroundings.  (approx 12 miles)

OVERNIGHT – ROCCAPINA

 DAY 7

Roccapina to Campomoro.  The small village of Campomoro that straggles around the beach is dwarfed by the steep bare slopes rising up behind it.  It is an attractive place on the edge of the beach with tall palm trees dotted about giving it a North African feel.  (approx 15 miles)

OVERNIGHT – CAMPOMORO

 DAY 8

Relax in Campomoro.

OVERNIGHT – CAMPOMORO

 DAY 9

With the wind behind make a long run to Iles Lavezzi an island on the southern tip of Corsica.  Visit the memorial to the wreck of the Semilente.   (approx 35 miles)

OVERNIGHT – LAVEZZI

 DAY 10

Relax Lavezzi.

OVERNIGHT – LAVEZZI

 DAY 11

Sail south to the Maddalena group of islands.  These islands are larger and greener than the northern group.  There are numerous anchorages and the sea is crystal clear turquoise and aquamarine over a rock and sand bottom.   (approx 10 miles)

OVERNIGHT – ISALA LA MADDALENA

 DAY 12

Explore the Maddalena islands south group.

OVERNIGHT – ISOLA SPARGI

 DAY 13

To Porto Cervo, perhaps the most exclusive port in the world.  Porto Cervo is the yachting hub of the Consorzio Costa Smeralda and one of the first parts of the Costa Smeralda to be developed.  It cost millions of dollars to build; a millionaires’ playground that looks like an authentic fishing village grown big, and it works – at least, it works architecturally.   (approx 10 miles)

OVERNIGHT – PORTO CERVO

 DAY 14

Return to Portisco for last night aboard.

OVERNIGHT – PORTISCO

 DAY 15

Disembark reluctantly for onward connections.
